Things to Check out on the Net

GND
Girls Next Door

As any fan of the Labyrinth movie with Jennifer Connolly and David Bowie will tell you, there was so much subtext and things left unexplored that you wondered - why was there never a sequel? But also we are the ones who hope they never remake it because no one could ever beat the original.

However if you want to know what happened from one fans point of view there is GND - Girls Next Door by Pika La Cynique. The premise of the story being that Sarah from Labyrinth moves into a flat with Christine from the Phantom of the Opera and have to deal with their relative stalkers - Jareth the Goblin King and Eric the Opera Ghost who happen to live in the flat below them.

The first comic strip can be found here

Along with the main quartet, the cast is ever growing creating its own universe. A canon verse where the characters from original works live, work and go to college. We see regular guests in Javert from Les Miserable, James Norrington from Pirates of the Caribbean, Elizabeth Swan-Turner (same movie), Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter, Legolas from Lord of the Rings, Azrael and Crowley from Good Omens. Also much less frequent cameos from Sweeney Todd, Star Wars, Firefly, Beetlejuice, Twilight & many many others.

For most of the A4 page strips, its beautifully penciled drawings but recently it morphed into color as Sarah returns to the Underground with Luna to find a herd of Crumple Horned Snorkacks. Some of the panels are very detailed and create a great atmosphere.

This series has attracted a lot of attention on the Deviant Art community, so much so that several fans banded together to make videos of the comics with them reading the written lines. I personally love the guy that does Jareth's voice. Each video combines several of the comics and are worth watching if your not into clicking page after page to get to the next strip - which I guarantee you will be.
