Dusty Pages Review: A Whole New World

What if one key moment from a familiar Disney film was changed? This dark and daring version of Aladdin twists the original story with the question: What if Jafar had been the first one to summon the Genie?

So this is the tale of Disney's Aladdin but with a twist - Jafar gets the lamp first & enacts his plan to take over Agrabah. I liked getting more depth to the characters of Aladdin and Jasmine. You get to see her be a strong leader which doesn't really come across in the original movies, though the short lived TV series did better at it. I loved the idea that one thing could change the entire way the story played out. Its Disney so you still technically get a H.E.A but its tinged with a little sadness.

It took a while for the story to get going at first, a large part of the beginning was just retelling the movie with a little bit of added detail here and there. I didn't like the way Jafar ended up acting like a spoiled brat and the genie didn't live up to his movie counterpart. Its clearly a story of a younger audience even with the army of the undead.

I give this
